What is SBS
Immerse yourself and be transformed by God’s Word in our nine-month, School of Biblical Studies (SBS). This program gives you an in-depth overview of all 66 books of the Bible and equips you for a lifetime of confident Bible study.
The Inductive Approach:
Many read the Bible to find what they want to see. We teach you to see what is actually there. Through Observation, Interpretation, and Application, you will discover timeless truths for yourself and be equipped to continue a lifetime of study.

Beyond SBS
Titus Project
Understanding the text is only the beginning. We highly recommend that SBS graduates transition immediately into the Titus Project. This specialized program equips you to take your deep understanding of the Word and communicate it clearly to others. It includes a short, focused training phase to give you confidence to teach and preach well, followed by a field assignment where you will teach the inductive method you spent 9 months practising, and provide biblical overviews to communities in need of clarity.

SBS is a core course for many degrees offered by U of N globally.
You can work towards an Associate’s Degree with us or use your credits at U of N locations worldwide as you work toward a Bachelor’s.

ACCREDITATION
This YWAM School of Biblical Studies (CHR 213, 315, 316) is a University of the Nations registered course. Thirty-six (36) semester equivalent credits will be earned for CHR 213, 312, 313 (twelve per semester) upon successful completion of the School of Biblical Studies. These credits may be applied to a U of N degree program or transferred to other participating colleges or universities. A successfully completed YWAM-DTS (DSP 211 & 212) is a prerequisite to all other UofN training schools, degree programs and working long-term with YWAM.

What is the course Content?
Course Breakdown
Q1: New Testament
We begin with the first-century documents to establish the core principles of the faith. By analyzing the Gospels and Letters first, you gain the essential “answer key” to the entire biblical library. This builds a strong analytical anchor, ensuring that when you later examine the ancient historical texts, you understand how the narrative remains consistent. It is the most direct path to grasping the primary teachings and applying them to modern life.
Q2: Old Testament Narratives
Next, we master the “historical spine” of the text. You will examine the foundational accounts of origins, ancient covenants, and the development of the nation of Israel. This quarter focuses on the unfolding character and nature of the Creator through His interactions with humanity. By understanding this overarching history first, you gain the essential framework needed to correctly place and understand the later works of prophecy and poetry.
Q3: Old Testament Prophets and Wisdom Literature
The final quarter covers the records from Ezra to Malachi, unlocking themes of justice, ethics, and future hope. You will explore ancient poetry, the calls for social reform from the prophets, and timeless wisdom for daily life found in the wisdom literature.
We conclude the school with the Book of Matthew. Having analyzed the Law, the Prophets, and the history of the people, studying Matthew allows you to see how the person of Jesus serves as the fulfillment of every ancient promise and historical theme explored throughout the year.

How is SBS different from a seminary or Bible college?
SBS uses inductive study (observation, interpretation, application) rather than lecturing through doctrine. Students form their own conclusions from the text before consulting commentaries or outside sources.
We’ve had participants who had already completed bible college before doing SBS, and they said SBS taught them more about the bible than bible college did.
What Bible knowledge do I need beforehand?
No specific prior knowledge is required, but the workload is demanding. It’s not uncommon to read 12 to 15+ chapters of Scripture per day.
Can I staff or teach SBS after completing it?
Almost. The Titus Project is a short course that SBS graduates can do to be equipped to teach well. Although there are some SBS staff who haven’t completed Titus Project, it is strongly recommended to complete it if you want to teach in SBS.
